MY JOURNEY INTO WELLNESS

ABOUT ME

Hi, I’m Sharon, a naturopath and Pilates Teacher with nearly two decades experience within the holistic wellness field. My own journey into Wellness, began during my early-thirties. I had been living with so many symptoms that had been creating havoc within my body, that I believed that it was the norm to feel lethargic, bloated and generally unwell. When you are told, by your doctor that your symptoms are a result of age (early-thirties), you believe what you are told, when you don’t know any differently.

That was until the diagnosis that changed my life. After been under the care of a specialist Dermatology Consultant in the hospital for many years, as a result of a skin condition I was diagnosed with an ‘allergy to the sun’!

I was in shock! My heritage is Caribbean, and I come from people who live in the sun all year round. How could I be allergic to the sun! It made no sense, and I began questioning all my other symptoms and what I had accepted as the norm up until that point.

Fast forward to two-decades later. My wellness journey took me back to higher education to seek my degree in Health Sciences with Naturopathy, closely followed by a diploma in teaching Pilates. Needless to say, I now longer suffer with that skin condition, and have lived a relatively well life since then.

My main desire now is help other women on their wellness journey, to live life on their terms. Through taking those small, sustainable steps that will lead to lasting energy, balance, and confidence. As they make wellness a choice, rather than leaving it to chance!

WHAT MY CLIENTS SAY

FULL OF LOVE

Angus

I really enjoy Pilates with Sharon. The lessons are varied and she keeps us engaged and stretched so that each session feels like a step forward rather than relentless slog against inflexibility

Elena

I attended Sharon’s course and I learnt so much from it, it has really changed my life and I feel 100% healthier. During the course we looked at things we don’t normally look at when learning about healthy eating and wellbeing, like your faeces and the importance of it, we even learnt about good posture and how this impacts, on your health.

Learning about how to understand food labels was really interesting and now I don’t buy any food without reading this information on the package first, I feel in control of my own health. I also feel confident in my knowledge of sugar, salt and fat contents in food. We were given fantastic ideas for food supplements and information on resources even where we can by them! The best of the course was that Sharon was very passionate about life and wellbeing, and so happy to help and share her knowledge with us that we were all so confident in asking questions and eager to learn more, so much we felt the course was too short.

Thanks Sharon, for such a fantastic course and your delicious food testers

Thank you so much for the extra help and support you have given me while I have been recovering from a ruptured Achilles' tendon. I am fairly unfit anyway, and I was very unsure about coming to class with a cast on. I needn't have worried because you were great at differentiating the exercises and ensuring that I didn't put too much strain on the injured foot.

You made sure that every time you explained to the class what to do, you included a way for me to join in, and at times this took a lot of ingenuity! The best thing was that this was done with discretion, so that I didn't feel different from the others, or that I was taking too much of your attention. It would have been easy to have let things slide while I was in a cast and to become even more unfit. I am so pleased that with your help, the road to recovery doesn't seem quite as long now. I look forward to the next class without my boot, and I am determined not to need extra help for too much longer!

ASKI (Advice Support Knowledge Information)

Sharon has provided a number of training sessions for ASKI over the last few years. We have found her style of delivery empathetic in particular when working with people ‘hardest to reach’ in the community. ASKI aims to provide the community with the skills to increase their knowledge and awareness, to increase engagement in health and health promotion. An analysis of the User Feedback from her sessions has all achieved 100%.

We would recommend her services to any organisation that wishes to have a significant impact on health and health promotion in the community.

Sharon’s Pilate’s classes are just what I needed to get me back into shape. After not exercising regularly for quite some time, I really needed to do something to tone this belly I’d acquired and strengthen my core.

I was a bit nervous to begin with as I had previously tried Pilates but the tutor wasn’t very understanding and made his annoyance very obvious! I had also tried following Pilates videos and didn’t enjoy them. However, Sharon talks you through all the movements and guides you so that you are actually doing them in the way you’re supposed to and not how you think the moves are supposed to be!

Sharon guides you through the beginner’s phase of each move but also shows you how to progress and challenge yourself as well as increase the technicality of each movement. I’ve definitely noticed a difference in only a few weeks of doing Pilates.
